Every year for the last seven years, Alec Bradley has released a St. Patrick’s Day inspired cigar in limited quantities, called the Black Market Filthy Hooligan. Most years have been barber-poles using two different wrappers. But joining the regular Filthy Hooligan this year is a special new blend Alan Rubin had tucked up his sleeve, utilizing not just two, but three wrapper leaves, just like the three leaves on an Irish shamrock.Â
The binder & filler blend is undisclosed, but the candela, habano seco, and habano maduro wrappers utilized on the shamrock are all grown in Honduras, and are carefully wrapped by some of Alec Bradley’s most skilled rollers to ensure excellent construction. 1500 boxes of these extremely complex, medium-bodied cigars were made, so secure yourself a box today, and it can be St. Paddy’s day all year long!
Pappy Van Winkles Family Reserve
Aged to perfection
The Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Fermented cigar is a long-filler, premium cigar rolled in limited quantities at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in EstelÃ, Nicaragua. Deep barrel fermentation is the key process that makes this expression vastly different from anything on the market. Hand selected leaves from Kentucky are packed into small torquettes (or bundles of tobacco), which are then loaded strategically into oak bourbon barrels. Water is then added, while immense pressure is applied to the torquettes via railroad jacks. The tobacco is removed 2-3 times per year, shaken out, then repacked. The total process of fermentation takes 12-18 months, leaving a truly unique flavor profile and aroma.
